God trying to work this guy out is difficult. I'm going to throw out an arbitrary Rumpelstiltskin because of the "get my name in 3 guesses" caveat, though I am not sure if Sire accepts Faerie lore and Grimm Tales into its canon. Plus Stiltz was always shown turning straw into gold and this guy has MAD skills with plot threads.
That said, I'm more caught up on the spider motif and the fact this guy can SEE plot threads.
I've got no guesses at all for spider themes, I'm not read up enough to know who is a symbolic spider.
But a guy with the ability to see plot threads may be our long awaited Holmes canon analog? Both Moriarty and Holmes fit in the "so ridiculously overpowered at deduction that they can essentially see the plot threads and deduce from there" camp.
